The Annual Jonathan Lea Network Stoolball Tournament
Last Thursday night saw the team at The Jonathan Lea Network hosting our annual Stoolball Tournament in the beautiful grounds of Great Walstead School. It was wonderful to see so many local businesses and contacts there, joining us for an evening of games, drinking and eating delicious canape cups from the talented team at Go Grazey.
An excellent game ensued with everyone joining in for many rounds of stoolball, with many shots clearing the boundaries and the house on the grounds surviving a near miss. Solicitor Callum Ritchie managed to cause the most significant damage on the night, not only batting a ball directly at James Bacharew from local charity Care for Veterans, but also sending a blinding shot directly into paralegal George Harrison’s forehead. You can check out some images from the evening below.
Donna Holland, CEO at the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, said “What a fabulous way to spend an evening. Massive thank you to JLN for organising”. Sonny Cutting, Event Director at the Sussex Business Show, added “Thank you for the invitation of The Jonathan Lea Network to watch stoolball, drink Pimms and enjoy the Sussex game at Great Walstead.”
Jonathan added “It’s always great to have an opportunity to network with local firms and friends and we were really fortunate to have such great weather for the evening. The games were a great laugh (once we’d reminded ourselves of all the rules!) and it was also an excellent opportunity for Sam from local charity Kangaroos to sell some more of her raffle tickets too. Lovely to see everyone and my thanks go to the team at JLN for pulling together yet another fun evening for us all to enjoy”.
Ending the night with a beautiful sunset over the grounds, we are already very much looking forward to next year’s tournament. We will see you there!
